AMALFI LEMON - MARK WRIGHT

£4.99

'Staring at a body of water below
I thought about the power of atoms
bonds, those which clasped the belt upon your bones
both sucking on Amalfi lemon rinds
a chemical kosh was required then
I saw a brand-new skin for the flaying
my insides hurt as I peel the onions
yellow-dye paper skin now made refuse'
from 'Sonnet for Comfort'

In the first of our new pamphlet series Mark Wright returns with Amalfi Lemon — a collection that spans sonnet, haiku and poetic fragment. These poems speak of urgent desire and memory in kind through imagery that is both bodily and abstract. The poems are tender at heart but covered with hard edges and the language is trimmed and polished to a mirror sheen. Amalfi Lemon is striking addition to this new voice in poetry.

Mark Wright was born in 1998 in Bradford. He lives and works in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
